Atheists: Why do some of you get offended at the sight of a religious symbol?

I'm only annoyed by such things when the government sponsors it since this amounts to a state sanctioning of religion. If you don't understand why this should bother me imagine if the government put up public displays of Scientology symbols and imagine how you would feel.
